"Did you watch/read Twilight? New Moon?"
Then three of my teenage nieces convinced me to sit down with them and watch it on DVD. They spend an entire hour or so, drooling over the main character. Never mind, he is a vampire! My 14-year-old niece insisted that it was the most romantic story she had ever seen. She enthusiastically continued to convince me to read the books. Even though I do not judge a book by its cover, but this time I literally did. Instead, I told her that I would love to hear the story from her, for it will give us some time together.
An hour and half and many snacks later, I knew the entire story of Bella, vampires, and werewolves. (Sorry, do not remember their names) As I listened to the story unfold, I realized that my lovely little niece is just like any other teenage romantic girl. Moreover, for her this is like Shakespeare’s version of love, romance, family feuds, and tragedy.
This past weekend New Moon was released, my nieces were going to watch Sunday’s matinee show. They invited me; however, I declined their offer. I will wait for the DVD, and enjoy another evening with my nieces eating popcorn and pondering the notion of “true love”.
